JFB: The Japanese Foods Blog

This blog is mainly about japanese foods (which I happen to love) and happened to love even more when I lived in tokyo for about 4 months. It also contains some non-japanese foods. We cooked some of the foods. Some of the foods we didn't cook. This blog also contains some stuff about travel as it pertains to foods. Some of the pictures were taken with a decent camera. Many of the pictures were taken with a crappy cellphone camera. You get the idea.

Our own cooking style is very ad hoc and we tend to stick to simple stuff. I've put pseduo-recipes where I think it's warranted. If you want more recipes you can contact me and I'll try to remember. Most of this stuff was oishii (deeelicious) unless otherwise noted.

Best Fishing Trip Ever

So we had met Kashi at Sana’s wedding party a couple of weeks ago when we shared the stage for an improptu jam, and at the after-party festivities the discussion somehow turned to fishing.  We learned that Kashi is an avid fisher, and lives in Miura Kaigan primarily for the proximity to the fish of Tokyo Bay.  He invited us on a fishing trip and of course we readily agreed.

The plan was to take the train out to Kashi’s place on sunday night, chill out, and wake up at 5am to hit the water for some Agi (mackerel) fishing in a boat (complete with grizzled fisherman skipper) that he rented.  Much to everyone’s surprise the fishing excursion didn’t quite turn out as we expected.  Scroll down for more explanation and pictures.
